Center Events
One of the ways the Center strives to accomplish its mission is through events held in conjunction with the Insurance industry, regulators, and academics from other institutions around the world.
During the past year the Center hosted several events. Most recently we hosted an event in Jacksonville, Fl. The event was focused on the affects of the Health Care legislation in its present form on the Health Insurance Industry. The views of several stakeholders in the insurance industry were presented ranging from the Deputy Insurance Commissioner, to Employee Benefit Specialists for Fortune 500 companies and Public Health Officials. A wide range discussion took place concerning the implications and effects of the current legislation.
Other events in the past year include guest lectures from speakers including: David Eckles, Phd, from the University of Georgia. Dr. Eckles presented his paper, "An Examination of Adverse Selection in Residual Markets."
The Center also hosted a large kick off event at the University Center Club in Doak Campbell Stadium which was attended by alumni and insurance professionals from across the Southeast. The launch event featured a roundtable discussion from the Insurance Commissioner of Florida, Kevin McCartney, Dr. Andreas Richter Director, from the Munich Risk and Insurance Center, and Moira Campion McConaghy, Manager of Government Relations at the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.
