MBA Association to hold elections
The MBA Association will hold elections at 11:15 a.m., Tuesday, June 21, in Starry Conference Room, 214 Rovetta, for the offices of president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, historian and women-in-business chair. “Since its inception in 2005, the MBA Association (MBAA) has played a prominent role in increasing the professionalism of our students and enhancing the overall experience of receiving an MBA at Florida State University.” said Dr. Douglas Stevens, MBA program director. “I encourage all current MBAs to join and participate in the MBAA.” Platforms are due by the end of the day today. A timeline and prior platforms are posted for students to review on the MBAA website. For more information on MBAA elections, contact Joanna Southerland, MBAA adviser.

The MBA Association also is currently offering T-shirts for sale to fund networking and professional development events and case competitions, as well as video streaming of college events for online students. Purchase yours on the FSU MBA Gear website.
Welcome, new MSF students
The Department of Finance will hold orientation June 24 for new students in the Master of Science in Finance program. “The class has 33 students with an average GPA of 3.6,” said Dr. Gary Benesh, MSF program director. “Twenty-seven of the students have degrees from FSU, three from other universities and three from China.” MSF classes begin June 27.
FSU profiles marketing student
Kelsey Reddick (MS-MAR 2012), pictured at right, a student in the College’s combined BS/MS program in marketing, is featured in a student profile on FSU’s Blackboard website. Reddick credits the positive influence of Dr. Michael Hartline, marketing department chair, and each of her professors in the College of Business for the enthusiasm she has developed for her field of study.
Apply for ambassador position
Accelerated MBA students are invited to apply to be part of the MBA Ambassadors. The group’s primary goals are: 1) to help increase the quality and diversity of the new Accelerated MBA class each year; 2) to present the FSU MBA program in a positive, excellent and professional manner to fellow classmates, the college community, alumni and corporate guests. Up to 10 students will be selected for the 2011-2012 school year. Application deadline is June 24. Mark your calendars
June 17 – The last day to drop a course or withdraw from the University without receiving a grade is this Friday. On-campus students needing help should see Jennifer Boyles, assistant director of graduate programs, in 233 Rovetta Business Building. Online students needing help should contact online registrars Kim Burkes (MBA) and Freddi Robinson (MSM-RMI and MS-MIS).

Attention, graduates
June 24 is the deadline for ordering your cap and gown for commencement from the Florida State Bookstore, 104 N. Woodward Ave. Rental fees are $71 for the regalia. Online students only should call in their orders to (850) 644-0832.
Summer commencement will be at 9 a.m., Aug. 6, at the Leon County Civic Center, 505 W. Pensacola St. Cap and gowns are also required dress for the Master's Hooding Ceremony at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5. Check Blackboard’s “COB Graduation Information” organization next week for more information on both ceremonies. Be sure and make your travel arrangements early. Kudos, colleagues
Scott Sauter, MSM-RMI student, was recently promoted to program manager at QBE the Americas in Chicago, where he has been employed for two and a half years. In his new role, Sauter manages three non-admitted homeowner’s programs with an emphasis on coastal exposed (CAT prone) business.
Shawn Clark, online MBA student, is an enterprise IT manager at Shands Healthcare in Jacksonville, where he is seeking applicants for an HL7 interface specialist position. Mark Soticheck, MAcc 2003, is a senior manager at Dixon Hughes Goodman LLP in Raleigh, N.C. He also recently became a member of the board of directors of the North Carolina Association of CPAs, as well as chairman of the NCACPA’s Financial Literacy Council.
Catherine Reese, MSM-RMI student, has been promoted to the position of Catastrophe and Flood Operations staff adviser at USAA in Colorado Springs, Colo.
