Student Leadership Council (SLC)

The Student Leadership Council (SLC) serves as a liaison group between the College of Business Board of Governors, the Dean's Office, alumni of the College of Business and the College of Business Student Body. The Council is composed of exemplary business students from each department with the purpose of advancing the College of Business to preeminent status in alignment with the vision of the Dean and the COB Board of Governors. The Council sponsors several networking events and programs for students in the College of Business to advance their career opportunities. What does the SLC do for you?

Professional Mentorship Program - The Student Leadership Council's Professional Mentorship Program is an initiative to connect prominent College of Business alumni and members of the business community with highly motivated students who seek careers in business-related industries after college. The Professional Mentorship Program connects one mentor with one College of Business student with the purpose of adding value and direction to the student’s college experience. Applications are made available at the beginning of each Fall and Spring semester, and interviews are conducted shortly after. Lunch With a Rotarian - The "Lunch with a Rotarian" program, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Tallahassee, is designed to give College of Business juniors, seniors, and graduate students the unique opportunity to network with local professionals in their fields of interest and for career exploration with no strings attached.This program is designed to link students with community leaders in hopes of initiating lasting networks and friendships. Several valuable opportunities have developed from program pairings in the past, including job and internship opportunities with local businesses.

Senior-to-Freshman Mentoring - The "Senior-to-Freshman" Mentoring is a dynamic program aimed to link incoming business-intent freshman with seniors in the College of Business. As a mentor, you will have the opportunity to give advice, guide and introduce an incoming business-intent freshman to the College of Business. As a mentee (freshman), this is a critical opportunity to get "ahead of the game" by receiving guidance from someone who has experienced all the College of Business has to offer.

Wall Street Prep Program - The Wall Street Prep Program is a financial modeling and technical finance interview boot camp conducted by the training firm Wall Street Prep. The instruction is given by experienced investment bankers who have extensive knowledge of financial modeling. Participants will learn the essential finance industry skill set and gain a competitive edge in preparing for finance interviews and careers. The program is MS Excel focused, and supplemented with a 300 page financial modeling handbook, Excel model templates, and post-class access to numerous online resources. All finance majors are encouraged to participate.
