Fennema to be honored by Society for Judgment and Decision Making

The Executive Board of the Society for Judgment and Decision Making (SJDM) announced it will award Bud Fennema, chair of the Accounting Department at Florida State University College of Business, its 2011 John Castellan Service Award. The John Castellan SJDM Service Award is named after the first newsletter editor of the society. The award honors individuals who have provided significant service to the society.

Fennema will accept the award at the society’s November meeting in Seattle, Wash.

Fennema earned his doctorate and master’s degrees in accountancy from the University of Illinois, Champaign; an MBA in finance from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill; and his bachelor’s in finance from Indiana University, Bloomington. He is a certified public accountant and certified management accountant. His research interests include behavioral decision theory applications in accounting.

The Society for Judgment and Decision Making is an interdisciplinary academic organization dedicated to the study of normative, descriptive, and prescriptive theories of judgments and decisions. Its members include psychologists, economists, organizational researchers, decision analysts, and other decision researchers. The Society's primary event is its Annual Meeting at which members present their research. It also publishes the Journal Judgment and Decision Making.
