TEDxFSU spotlights doctoral business student’s social media expertise

Ph.D. student Todd Bacile spoke Tuesday for a sold-out TEDxFSU audience on "Influencer Marketing: Controversies Surrounding Social Media Influence in the Age of Personal Media." He joined a slate of campus speakers focusing on "Digital Directions."

Co-organizer Micah Vandegrift said Bacile was chosen because TEDxFSU thought the event provided “a very public and interesting venue to say more about the project he had in class.”

Bacile’s August guest post on the blog run by marketing guru Mark Schaefer created international buzz. In it, he explains how about he uses Klout, a controversial tool to assess social-media influence, as a portion of a student’s final class project.

TEDxFSU is an independently organized event. Vandegrift said the talks will be submitted to TED, a nonprofit known for spreading innovative ideas to the world via videoed lectures for free.
