The Bill Hillison Professorship Fund
This fund honors Professor Bill Hillison who will retire in 2009 after more than 30 years at FSU. Over those years, Bill has touched the lives of literally thousands of students. These students became successful practicing accountants and CPAs in public accounting, corporations, and government. I doubt whether there are many of them who didn't take away more than just the knowledge of the topic that Bill was teaching. He truly inspired a generation of FSU accountants. This fund will create an endowed professorship, which will provide a stipend in perpetuity that is awarded to highly productive faculty for three-year terms. The minimum amount of the endowment for a professorship is $250,000, and if we can raise $168,000 the state will match half of that amount, giving us the funds needed. It is hoped that the professorship can be fully funded and ready for the state match by the time Bill is ready to retire.
