I hope this Dean's Brief finds you all well and enjoying the summer. The past 100 days have been challenging, not only for the College, but for the entire University. On the positive side, we graduated 796 students this past spring. On the negative side, at the end of the legislative session, the University found out exactly what its current year budget would look like. To give you some perspective, Florida State University's budget has been cut $82 million since 2007; that includes the $56.6 million that will need to be cut out of this coming year's budget which begins July 1, 2009. Of this amount, the College was asked to take another 10-percent cut, which amounted to a little over $1.8 million. Below, I detail what the college is doing to absorb the cuts and where we are going from here. Read the University's three-year budget plan. On a final note, you may have heard that President T.K. Wetherell announced his retirement yesterday. I have very much enjoyed working with T.K. over the past three years. He has been extremely supportive of the College of Business, and we wish him well.
