The Dedman School of Hospitality is in the College of Business at FSU. Based on input from industry representatives, this strong business component of the program is what attracts companies to our students. We are proud of our consistent 100% placement record. The curriculum is designed so that students must meet high standards of achievement in:

  • general education
  • specialized knowledge needed for their hospitality industry
  • basic functions, objectives, and tools of management common to executive roles

Florida State University's Dedman School of Hospitality is the ideal place to prepare for a multitude of opportunities in the hospitality and tourism industry. Hospitality / tourism is the number one industry in the State of Florida, and last year Florida hosted more than 42 million tourists, creating more than $45 billion in hospitality/tourism sales in the year 2002 alone! What better environment for a high quality education in hospitality and tourism management?

The Dedman School of Hospitality is highly esteemed by national industry executives, and it has a rich history of preparing young men and women for success in hospitality management. Since 1947, our students have excelled in virtually every area of the hospitality industry. Why? We offer our students an education that not only learns from the past, but also builds upon past and present industry knowledge to pioneer the future.

Specific skills and knowledge are too often outdated, particularly in the fast-paced and changing world of business. Our students are part of the College of Business at Florida State, ranked consistently among the top 50 undergraduate business schools in the country by U.S News & World ReportM, and accredited by the AACSB, the world's premier accrediting agency of collegiate business programs, since 1962.

The curriculum is comprehensive and rigorous, combining the best our College of Business has to offer with solid hospitality management principles. We emphasize analytical tools, processes, systems, and problem solving approaches to the industry. We also understand the key to success in hospitality management is centered on the 'human' element, as well as high quality service and financial success. Our faculty are as equally committed to fostering individual personal growth through educational experience as they as they are to preparing you for success in the hospitality industry.
