The Center for Banking and Financial Studies

This initiative is central to attracting world-class faculty, state of the art resources, and enhancing program offerings in order to benefit the finance program. The initiative involves establishing named endowments to fund several program-related elements. Goal: $10 million

Robert G. Turner Scholars Challenge Program

Memorial endowment established in honor of the late Professor Robert G. Turner. Bank of America is the initiator and primary donor to this Scholars Program. Bank of America challenges corporations, alumni and friends to contribute an additional $250,000 to the Robert G. Turner Scholars Program. Each dollar contributed (up to the $250,000 goal) will be matched 3-for-1 by Bank of America. Including the potential state matching contributions, each donation will result in over 6 times the donated amount being added to the endowment. The endowment supporting the Robert G. Turner Scholars Program will exceed $1,500,000 when the $250,000 goal is achieved. The Turner Scholars Program provides opportunities for other friends of Professor Turner and Bank of America to contribute to this memorial. The mission of this scholars program will be to increase the potential for students' success through a combination of work and scholarship. The program will help deserving students find and succeed in paid corporate internships and then provide these students with financial support when they return to campus to complete their education. Goal: $250,000

Professor Robert G. Turner helped create leaders in finance and banking for more than three decades at the Florida State University College of Business. He was known and respected as an outstanding educator by thousands of colleagues and former students who mourned his passing in the summer of 2004. During his tenure, Professor Turner shared his extensive knowledge of the business community and the banking profession with his students. He also spent many hours mentoring students and giving freely of his time.
