I am humbled, honored, and flattered to have been chosen to receive this award. In light of some of the previous and current award winners I feel I am in rare company - Winston Churchill said it best in a historic speech in which he said .."Never give in. Never give in. Never, never, never, never--in nothing, great or small, large or petty-- As the father of multiple teen-agers I could easily apply to parenting as well as it could to running a business - Jim Moran and the previous award winners showed what a stiff dose of perseverance can do - In our case we grew our company from 15 employees to 50 in one year and then back down to 15 again over the following few years - needless to say we took some lumps along the way - thanks to some great employees, friends, mentors, and advisory board members, including many of the previous award winners - we survived and actually thrived -the silver lining is that in the end - when the dust cleared we lowered our payroll without lowering Sales - and somewhere along the way Dr Osteryoung finally convinced us that the bottom line is far more important than the top line -

Three things stand out that I could not have done this without - Prayer, Planning, and Perseverance - Prayer because you "have to have something to believe in" and it gives you hope, and helps smooth the rough edges - I know that I have burned up some of the kneelers over the last 10-15 years through some of the ups and downs Planning because - if you don't know where you are going - how are you ever going to get there? Perseverance because this is the only way you can survive -pick yourself up - dust yourself off, and keep going - learn from your mistakes, but get back in the fight - Character is shown at these dark times, when the world is closing in.
