Marpan Supply CompanyKim WilliamsMarpan Supply Company began in 1966 with my father as manager and purchased in 1967 by my father and mother. We currently have sales of 6 million and 25 employees. The company original market was tax supported agencies and we still serve State of Florida and local Government agencies through out the state primarily on State Contracts. Presently we have the State Lamp (light Bulb) contract. Over 70% of the local Governments in Florida purchase lamps from us along with all State agencies. We have in the past held contracts for Patient (hospital and nursing home) and Dorm Furniture, office desk and files, lounge furniture, first aid, floor machines, highway signs and safety hats, etc. We also sell a full line of safety equipment in our showroom in Tallahassee. The other part of our company, and probably one we are better known for locally in the refuse equipment business. Marpan leases garbage and recycling containers and maintains the same. We provide compactors and rolloff containers to construction sites and we provide a hauling service >for construction, demolition and recycling material. When my parents bought the business there was only one employee other than mom and dad. My father was in the building supply business and his company failed in 1966, so he started over at the age of 49. Mom had sold real estate prior to their purchase of Marpan, but then came on board full time. She was a huge part of the success of the business. I worked part time in the business since I was 15 years old. I attended Tallahassee Community College and while there began to work full time at Marpan. I have been here 37 years and became president in 1985. |
