Mac and Joyce McNeill

Bill's Bookstore is a Tallahassee tradition that has thrived to generations of college students. Founded more than 50 years ago, it is an example of a growing, family business that has kept pace with the times every step of the way.

Bill's Bookstore racks up consistent sales by never losing focus of it's core mission which is to serve the customer. When students need something at Bill's, the solution is simple, give them what they need. Many students are caught in the financial aid squeeze, needing books today when the check comes in tomorrow. Bill's allows them to charge what they need, creating customers for life.

Joyce and Mac McNeill know that they being able to serve their customer well is a function of knowing how to take care of their employees. They certainly know how to do that. As a matter of fact, 75% of their full time staff have been there 12 years or more, and one employee has been there 38 years! Additionally, Bill's employs more than 100 part time college students. They know the psychology of making students happy is to make them good, productive employees. Giving them what they need and providing employment for them, well that's really serving the customer!!

With a great management philosophy, Bill's Bookstore is certain to continue to be around after today's college student graduates, raises a family, and starts collecting their retirement.
