Meet the Expert
D r. Osteryoung is the Executive Director of the Jim Moran Institute for Global
Entrepreneurship in the College of Business at Florida State University and the
Director of the Entrepreneurship Program. Additionally, Dr. Osteryoung is the
Jim Moran Professor of Entrepreneurship and Professor of Finance.
Dr. Osteryoung has written eight books and his newest academic book entitled So
You Need to Write a Business Plan! was published in 2003. Additionally, Dr.
Osteryoung has written over 60 articles on entrepreneurial and finance subjects.
He received an undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering from Georgia
Tech, an MBA from the University of South Florida, and his doctorate from Georgia
State University.
Dr. Osteryoung is very busy consulting with entrepreneurs throughout the state
of Florida. Over the last ten years, he has directly assisted over 3000 entrepreneurs.
Additionally, he has written a weekly article on entrepreneurship for the Tallahassee
Democrat for over 3 years now since March of 2001 and is now writing a weekly
column to answer entrepreneur's questions about startup businesses. His newest
book, Jerry’s Recipes for Success – an Entrepreneurial Cookbook (published
January 2004), is a compilation of 100 of his best articles.
Jerry is Past President of Sunrise Rotary, Past President of the Board of
211 Big Bend (local and state crisis hot lines), Treasurer of the Board of Florida
Commerce Credit Union, and he serves on many other boards. Additionally, Jerry
serves as a crisis counselor at 211 Big Bend. Jerry served as a counselor at
211 Big Bend, contributing over 900 volunteer hours. Jerry is a graduate of Class
XX of Leadership Tallahassee and serves on Leadership Tallahassee's Board as
Treasurer. In 2005, the Florida Economic Development Council presented their
prestigious Richard L. McLaughlin Award to him for his outstanding volunteer
contributions to the economic development in the State.
Jerry enjoys working out at the gym and scuba diving during his leisure time.
Dr.
Betty A Presnell is the Associate Director of the Jim Moran Institute for Global
Entrepreneurship at Florida State University as well as the Jim Moran Professor
of Entrepreneurship.
She consults with the Chamber members once a month for One-on-One Consulting.
These are one-hour sessions that are provided at no cost to chamber members.
She is the executive roundtable facilitator for several groups and also serves
as the faculty advisor for the Collegiate Entrepreneurship Organization. She
enjoys traveling, sailing, hiking, reading, and films.
