The Master Plan for June 16, 2008

Get work experience

Set yourself apart from the pack of job-hungry graduates with some real-world experience. Pursue a fall internship to add to your resume. Help a nonprofit with a marketing campaign. Assess financials at a state agency. Or, find an internship niche that reflects your own interests. Make an appointment today with Joanna Southerland,  director of graduate programs support, before fall registration opens in early July.

Because appearances matter

There is truth in the adage: “You never have a second chance to make a first impression.”  Help recruiters remember your name by wearing an official FSU nametag and handing them business cards. All MBA students – especially full-time and part-time – are expected to have these tools on Corporate Networking Night in September. Order before next Monday, June 23, by contacting Shirley Wilson or Joanna Southerland.

Give input on women issues

The MBA Association has formed a committee to focus specifically on addressing the needs of women in the workplace. Those with suggestions should contact Holly Hulen or Terin Barbas. The next general MBAA meeting is scheduled for 3:45 p.m. Thursday in Weichelt Lounge.

New MBA T-shirts in the works

MBAs can submit design ideas regarding this year’s MBA T-shirt choices to Edwin Alexander,  MBA Association secretary. The association plans to survey students this week for their preferences in colors, shirt types and designs.

Are you ready for some football?

Many MBA students have been asking questions about how to get football tickets this fall. A new student ticketing policy is in the works for home football games. New policies and procedures will be posted on the Seminole Athletics Department Web site later this summer. Until then, check out the fall football schedule.

College seeks Hall of Fame nominations

Nominations for the College of Business 2009 Hall of Fame are due July 1. Inductees must have excelled in their career and made significant contributions to the college’s mission. Find the nomination form and read about past recipients on the Hall of Fame Web site. For more information, contact Leslie Mille, director of alumni relations.

If you have career information or news about our graduate students or alumni, please e-mail Melanie Yeager, MBA 2007, director of communications for graduate programs.
