Below is the schedule for our three-day orientation. Students who have never attended Florida State University (FSU) will be required to come on Wednesday morning. The entire class will meet together at 11:30 a.m. for lunch provided by FSU. The first day is designed to explain the processes and applications you will use as a student. You will meet our Caryn Beck-Dudley, dean of the College of Business; Dr. Bruce Lamont, who directs graduate programs; and some of the faculty who will teach you throughout the year. Dean Beck-Dudley will host a reception in your honor that evening at our University Center Club. On the second day, we will review the opportunities we -- that is, the College of Business graduate programs staff and the FSU Career Center -- provide throughout your school year to enhance the quality of your education and job search. You will meet MBA students and graduates for a Q & A about their past experiences. As an MBA student you are required to do many group projects. The third day we will do a series of team-building projects, including a ropes course, at the FSU Seminole Reservation We ask that you dress in business casual for the first two days and bring your laptop on Wednesday only. At the reservation, you should dress in comfortable, cool clothing. YOUR ORIENTATION SCHEDULEWednesday May 78:30 a.m. – Continental Breakfast, Weichelt Lounge, 220 Rovetta Business Building Students new to FSU 9 a.m. – MBA orientation begins for students new to FSU Starry Conference Room, 214 Rovetta Business Building. Topics include: Introduction to graduate staff, getting your FSU Card, campus activities (Lisa Beverly), the wireless network, FSUID / Blackboard (COB Graduate Student Organization, Secure Apps), computer labs, building access, Thagard health center, where to park (the secrets). 11:30 a.m. MBA CLASS OF 2009 STUDENTS Dean Caryn Beck-Dudley welcomes, discusses mandatory extra-curricular activities. Other speakers:, Dr. Lamont, associate dean of graduate studies, Dr. Ceasar Douglas, associate professor of management 1:00 p.m. – Sheila Muniz, Membership in MBA Association -Starry 1:30 p.m. –Understanding your academic requirements, Starry Scheri Martin, Graduate coordinator for on-campus graduate programs. Laptop will be needed. 3:30 p.m. –Register for classes - Bring Laptop 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. – Dean's Reception at University Center Club -– (6th Floor Building B, University Center)
