Welcome!

The management information systems department is the youngest department in the College of Business. It was formed to increase the emphasis on technological education in the business curriculum and to consolidate the teaching of management information systems into one unit. The purpose of the curriculum is to provide the student with a broad understanding of the role and use of managerial technology in the various functional areas of modern organizations. The goal of the undergraduate program is to prepare the student for entry-level positions in medium- and large-size organizations leading to high-level technical or managerial careers in both the public and private sectors.

The Management Information Systems department also offers an online MS in MIS degree program. The purpose of the online MS in MIS is to update the technology and business knowledge of MIS professionals to facilitate career advancement. Students in this program choose one of two options. The managerial option allows the student to take selected courses from the online MBA program. This option is appropriate for information technology professionals who want to advance into executive management. The technical option exposes the student to advanced course work in systems analysis, database, and telecommunications. It is appropriate for the student who desires to be a technical expert.

The College of Business also offers a doctor of philosophy (PhD) program in business administration with a concentration in MIS. Students in this program are highly qualified individuals primarily seeking university teaching and research careers. Graduates are placed in other highly recognized university faculties. In this program, the student concentrates on the research issues in the management of technology in organizations and in the development and use of information in decision making and control.
