Undergraduate Program News

Due to budget issues, the MIS department has been merged with the Management department in the College of Business. Additionally, the technical track in the MIS program has been suspended indefinitely. The MIS program still exists and students who are interested in the application of technology in business are encouraged to major in MIS.

Effective in the Fall of 2009, the ISM 3003 (Foundations of MIS) will no longer be required for MIS majors. In addition, the major will consist of six courses. All students will take the MIS "core" that consists of:

  • ISM 4113: Management Information Systems Analysis & Design
  • ISM 4212: Information for Operating Control & Data Management
  • ISM 4220: Information & Communications Systems Management

Students must also complete three courses from the following list:

  • CGS 3416: Java for Non-Majors (from computer science)
  • CGS 4404: Advanced Application Development (from MIS)
  • ISM 4117: Decision Support & Expert Systems Management
  • ISM 4300: Technology Management
  • ISM 4314: Project Management
  • ISM 4482: Mobile Technology Management
