BUSINESSWEEK RANKS COB'S UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The College of Business undergraduate program receives its first ranking from BusinessWeek coming in at 25th among public institutions nationwide. "We are especially pleased to be ranked on this prestigious list given our large undergraduate program," states Caryn L. Beck-Dudley, dean of the College of Business. "The fact that our students recognize the value of their education is especially gratifying. This rise in the ranking reflects our increased national prominence and impact. We are committed to excellence and to receiving recognition as being among the nation's best." BusinessWeek used five unique measures in their ranking system including a survey of more than 100,000 business majors at top schools and a poll of undergraduate recruiters. To better understand career outcomes, they also looked at starting salaries for graduates and how many each school sent to top MBA programs. Finally, an academic-quality score - a combination of five measures including SAT scores and faculty-student ratios-identified schools with the smartest, hardest-working and bestserved students. The undergraduate program also received impressive rankings from U.S. News & World Report coming in at 25th among public institutions across the nation. Additionally, U.S. News & World Report ranked the college's risk management/insurance program seventh-best and the real estate program as the 10-best among public institutions. The undergraduate accounting program was ranked 24th and the graduate accounting program was ranked 25th by the Public Accounting Report (PAR). Meanwhile, hospitality and tourism recruiters recently ranked the college's Dedman School of Hospitality sixth in the nation for the quality of its faculty and have placed it in the top 10 for the quality of its facilities. The Dedman School also has a 100-percent job-placement rate for its graduates. In addition, the College of Business' entrepreneurial program was ranked among the top 50 comprehensive regional programs by Entrepreneurial Magazine. Kiplinger's ranked FSU as the 21st best value in public colleges across the country. Founded in 1950, the FSU College of Business is one of the youngest business schools and is recognized as one of the nation's 10 largest business schools. It is FSU's second largest college with an enrollment of more than 6,300 students, and boasts a distinguished faculty of 115, including a Francis Eppes professor, three university named professors, seven Eminent Scholars and 30 endowed professorships.
