COB's Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization wins first place award – not once, but twice

The Florida State University chapter of the Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization (CEO) took home two first-place awards at its inaugural trip to the organization's national convention held earlier this month in Chicago.

FSU won the top spot in the CEO Best Chapter Awards for In Person Networking, given to the chapter that created the best long-term resources for its members through networking events, and the Entrepreneur Intern for a Day, given to the chapter whose members best showcased they organized a learning experience. With more than 1,300 students representing 130 schools, this is quite a feat for the FSU chapter.

"Our chapter's officers need to be commended for their diligent and dedicated work in making FSU's CEO an outstanding chapter and getting a spotlight nationally," said Annette Ranft, chair of the Department of Management and Jim Moran Professor of Business Administration. "This is a remarkable record and one that speaks volumes about the talent, skills and leadership abilities of our students and the effectiveness of our entrepreneur program."

Mark Church, Brett Shafter and Julian Villalta represented FSU at the CEO conference. The event gave members of this entrepreneurship network that serves more than 500 colleges and universities an opportunity to come together to network and learn from entrepreneurs and thought leaders.

FSU's CEO chapter is part of the Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship and advised by Betty Presnel, an associate in entrepreneurship. The chapter informs, supports and inspires college students to be entrepreneurial and seek opportunity through enterprise creation. The CEO is the foremost global entrepreneurship network for students.
