Katie Froeschle was a rare soul.

Her friends and family remember Katie for different things - her love of the beach, her hearty laughter, her dream of becoming a veterinarian. Katie also held two degrees from Florida State University, and rarely missed watching the Seminoles play.

A loving daughter, a devoted sister and a valued friend, she was senselessly murdered in November 2004, turning the lives of her friends and family upside down. As they struggled to carry on, they realized that families who suffer traumatic losses need support and care to get through those troubling times. Not content to allow other families to suffer similarly, they worked together to create the Katie Froeschle Foundation, a not for profit community organization that raises funds for scholarships for FSU students, and also supports The Life Center, an organization that acts as advocates for families who suffer traumatic losses.

On September 14, 2007, the organization will hold its second Katie Froeschle Memorial Golf Tournament at the Crescent Oaks Country Club to benefit these organizations and also to allow some sun to shine on the memory of Katie.

"When we remember Katie, we remember her smile, her laughter and the way she cared deeply for her family and friend," said Jeff Froeschle, Katie's father and member of the foundation's board of directors. "So, we designed this day as a way for all those who loved her to come together and enjoy each other while they work for a good cause, because the best way to honor Katie's memory is to love each other and commit ourselves to the happiness of others the way that she did."

The golf tournament will start at 1 p.m. After the golf tournament, there will also be a silent auction at 6 p.m. at the country club. The golf tournament has already sold out for 2007, however, sponsors for the tournament, as well as donations for the silent auction, are requested to help raise funds for the Foundation to support the Katrina Anne "Katie" Froeschle Memorial Scholarship Fund and The Life Center.
