Massey had a career that spanned 25 years on Wall Street, all with one firm -- Salomon Brothers Inc. After receiving a business degree from Florida State University and then an MBA from Emory University in 1967, Massey joined Salomon and assumed various management roles throughout his tenure. He became a general partner in 1979 when Salomon was still a partnership.

When Salomon merged with Phibro to become a publicly held company, Massey became a member of the firm's Executive Committee in 1982 and remained so for 10 years. As a member of the Executive Committee, he had responsibility for all sales management, which included recruiting and training for the sales and trading areas of the firm. In addition, Massey was a member of the Salomon Brothers' Compensation Committee and chaired the Committee for three years.

In 1988, Massey was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Salomon Brothers Europe, Ltd. in London, where he was responsible for all business in Europe. Upon returning from London in 1992, Massey chaired the Internal Control and Compliance Committee. At the end of 1993, Massey retired. In January 1994, he founded Massey Investments based in Greenwich, Connecticut, and is a private investor.

Massey was Chairman of Greenwich Academy's Board of Trustees from 1995 to 1998; he served for 15 years on the Board. He also served on the Dean's Advisory Council at the Goizueta Business School for Emory University. He was Co-Chairman of Greenwichs' Bruce Museum from 1999 to 2000. Massey has also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Film Society of Lincoln Center, the YMCA of Greater New York and the Protestant Welfare Agencies, Inc.

Massey grew up in Cairo, Georgia, and graduated from Cairo public schools in 1961. He attended Florida State University on a football scholarship and played on the first FSU football team to defeat the University of Florida in 1964. He was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity and was also inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa and was the president of his senior class.

Massey currently lives in Greenwich, Connecticut. He has two daughters who are both involved in the art world.

Established in 2003, the Hall of Fame honors and celebrates individuals who embody the qualities that make the College of Business an extraordinary place to learn and grow. Hall of Fame inductees have excelled in their careers and have made significant contributions, which continue to solidify the national reputation of the highly ranked FSU College of Business.
