Graduate Certificate Program in Real Estate Development
This unique program offers graduate students in Urban and Regional Planning and the College of Business the opportunity to pursue interdisciplinary coursework related to real estate development. The program is meant to help students understand the critical thinking and analytical skills necessary to making sound real estate and community development decisions.
Admission
The certificate is available to any graduate student admitted and enrolled
in either the Department of Urban and Regional Planning masters or Ph.D.
programs or the MBA program in the College of Business. The certificate
program is not a stand-alone program, but is used to enhance the existing
graduate programs within Urban and Regional Planning and the College
of Business.
Program of Study
Students are required to complete 18 hours of coursework outlined below.
The course of study must be completed simultaneously with the MSP or
MBA degree, and therefore typically requires 9 hours to be completed
in addition to the master's degree.

LAND USE AND REAL ESTATE LAW (at least 3 credits required)
URP 5125: Plan Implementation (3 cr.)
REE 5435: Real Estate and Its Legal Environment (3 cr.)
DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT (at least 3 credits required)
URP 5873: Site Design and Land Use Analysis (3 cr.)
URP 5742: Housing and Community Development (3 cr.)
URP 5319: Urban Design (3 cr.)
MARKET ANALYSIS / TOOLS (at least 3 credits required)

INVESTMENT AND DEVELOPMENT (at least 3 credits required)
REE 5305: Real Estate Investment - Project Seminar (3 cr.)
REE 5315: Real Estate Feasibility - Project Seminar (3 cr.)
Notes:
- Students must complete REE5205 prior to taking REE5305 or REE5315.
- In some instances, Special Topics in Real Estate (REE5935) may be substituted for REE5205, if approved by the Chairs in Urban and Regional Planning and the Department of Risk Management/Insurance, Real Estate and Business Law.
- Transfer credits will not be accepted.
- Students must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA in certificate classes to receive the certificate.

Certificate Information
The certificate document, signed by the deans of the Colleges of Business and Social Sciences, will have the following wording: Florida State University College of Business and College of Social Sciences Attest that "Name of Student" having successfully completed the requirements is hereby awarded the certificate in Real Estate Development.
