Suggested Responsibilities for Interns
Depending on the type of firm, the following are some types of activities in which the intern may be involved:
- Perform appraisals (with proper guidance and observation) on residential and/or commercial properties or assist in collecting or developing comparable sales data, cost and income figures, and other reports ancillary to the appraisal
- Participate in market analyses by collecting and preparing data, developing and administering questionnaires, applying statistical analyses and methods, etc..
- Participate in property management functions such as showing properties, preparing listings, assisting in telephone or mail correspondence, compiling comparable data, etc..
- Assist in financial analysis by surveying financing options and terms, contacting lending institutions concerning loan availability and terms, and gathering information regarding public agencies and financing (FHA, VA, etc..)
- Participate in the mortgage loan process by helping to assemble mortgage documents, evaluate credit ratings, assist in underwriting verifications, and help package loans for the secondary mortgage market
- Assist in preparing property briefs of prospective properties for clients and help maintain "FSBO" lists for follow-up contact
- Assist in preparing advertising copy and news releases
- Assist in updating and maintaining records, posting listings, analyzing MLS data, developing absorption rates, etc..
- Apply computer skills to help solve real estate problems and assist employees in developing and expanding computer skills
