Minority Business Society

History

The Minority Business Students Association was established as a non-profit organization devoted to the betterment of minority students at Florida State University . In November of 1993, officers from the Minority Business Society of the University of Florida visited The Florida State University. They began the process of reorganizing MBSA into what is now the Minority Business Society of Florida State University. MBS is committed to the unification and success of minority business students, as well as, to aiding corporations in their search for quality candidates.

What We Do

To achieve our third goal of professional and personal development, we provide members with a variety of workshops. Topics include, but are not limited to, resume writing, business etiquette, choosing a career path and interviewing techniques. MBS is concerned with the future of minority business students and their influence in the community. Through our ongoing efforts to achieve our objectives, we create beneficial networks between students and companies, providing an atmosphere of mutual benefits. Thus MBS stands as a sound investment for both students and corporations.

Our Commitment

The primary goals of MBS are to increase the retention ratio of graduating minority students, to aid employers in the identification and recruitment of prospective employees, as well as to assist in the professional and personal growth of minority students. We help increase the number of minority business graduates by offering developmental programs such as academic forums and academic enrichment activities. We also sponsor activities such as corporate presentations and seminars to assist corporations in identifying potential candidates. These programs give employers an opportunity to informally interact with students, and give students a chance to learn more about potential employers.
