Frequently Asked Questions
To be a member of the association students need to be MIS majors and pay $25 for dues. Any
student in any major is welcome to attend company presentations ONLY. Only students
majoring in MIS can participate in association activities.
- What are the benefits of membership in the MIS Association?
Members can Attend Socials, Semester Banquets, and Company Trips at reduced cost.
Members also have direct Access to Recruiters/Company Info
- Are there any additional benefits?
Yes! In addition to the benefits listed above, members will have their resume posted
online in the Current Members List and on the
Resume CD-ROM.
- How do I become a member?
To become a member, show up to the next meeting or email one of the
current officers. To find out when the next meeting is,
visit our calendar of events
- What constitutes General Membership?
Any MIS major that has asked to join AND has paid the $25.00 membership fee is
considered to be a General Member.
- What constitutes Active Membership?
In addition to meeting the requirements for General Membership, any member that
regularily attends meetings (at least 37.5% of the semester meetings) is
considered to be an Active Member.
- I don't have $25, can I still go to the meetings?
Yes! Meetings are open to any person currently in the MIS program. Until you become
a General Member however, you will not be allowed to attend the Semester Banquet,
Socials, or company trips. In addition, you will not be able to participate in the
Resume CD-ROM program either.
- What do you do at the meetings?
Recruiters come and talk about their company and the opportunities available. You can
ask direct questions about the firm, interviewing, job requirements, or the working
environment.
- Do you have any fun?
After most meetings, we have a social where you can chat with the recruiters in a
relaxed atmosphere. Some recruiters also have tailgates during football season.
- Do I have to attend all of the meetings?
We encourage you to attend as many meetings as possible, however you can go to as
many or as few meetings as you wish.
